Welcome to Pirates Frosh 2011!
Dear Future Management Student,
On behalf of the Management Undergraduate Society of McGill University (MUS), it is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Desautels Faculty of Management. You will soon be joining one of the most elite student bodies in the world and will eventually be part of an alumni network that boasts some of the most brilliant minds in the global business community.
The MUS is the governing student body that represents all students in the BCom program with a mission to cultivate the personal, academic, and professional development of management students. Throughout the year, the MUS hosts a myriad of events through its committees and clubs, enhancing student life and promoting inspiring and unforgettable experiences. One such event thousands of new McGill students look forward to every year is MUS Orientation Week (commonly referred to as “Frosh”).
Frosh is the most anticipated and memorable of events planned by the MUS introducing new students to university life, and the city of Montreal. This event, which runs from August 29th to September 4th, involves over 500 students from all over Canada and the rest of the world participating in various activities with the first half of the week focusing on university-wide orientation and the rest being faculty-specific. The week is filled with interactive and exciting events providing all students with an excellent opportunity to interact socially with other undergraduates and network with mentors in their faculty through recreational activities.
On a more personal note, Frosh Week is where you will meet the friends with whom you will spend the bulk of your time in the Desautels Faculty of Management. Having upper-year students as your leaders provides you with guides who will be able to offer you advice making your stay at McGill as comfortable and easy as possible. We cannot emphasize how important it is for you to involve yourself in this year’s MUS Frosh – it really is an amazing event. There is no better way to start off the school year.
On this website you will find information on how to register, find your questions answered, “meet” your committee, and more.
Additionally, we understand that although starting university may be exciting for you, your parents may have some concerns. Trust us, the more information they have about academics, residences, meal plans, health services, and any others, the better. Therefore, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to answer any questions you or your parents may have. If we do not know the answer ourselves, we will put you in contact with someone who does.
We cannot describe how excited we, and our amazing organizing committee, are in welcoming you to the Desautels Faculty of Management and to MUS Frosh 2011! We are extremely confident that this year will go down as one of the most memorable you will ever experience.
